FEATURED COLLECTION WANG Weiran

Work Description
“A Group of People Sleeping with Their Eyes Open” is a theme I have continuously developed and extended throughout my painting practice.
My work initially focused on the relationship between society and the individual, reflecting on one’s position within collective structures and questioning how, in an environment saturated with vast amounts of information, a person can remain aware—or gradually become numb.
As I continued to explore the question of “myself and others,” my work gradually shifted toward self-examination. I came to realize that many external issues actually originate from within—self-doubt, the avoidance of responsibility, and the constant tension between awareness and escape.
These works function more as records of inner states. Through a restrained yet direct form of expression, I aim to make viewing an experience of self-projection and reflection.
